Biographical Information
Virgil "Quicksilver" Hill

Virgil
Eugene Hill was born on January 18, 1964 in Clinton, Missouri. He
has one brother, Robert Jr., and three sisters, DeVaughna, Tabetha, and Michelle.
His family
moved to North Dakota when he was three, and he was raised in Grand
Forks, ND and one year in Williston, ND. Virgil is of French Canadian, Norwegian, Scandinavian, German,
and Native American (Cherokee) ancestry.
Virgil's father got Virgil started boxing at the young age of 8 and he has always been a big inspiration and support throughout his son's career. Virgil's impressive amateur record was 288-11. He won the
district, state, regional and National Golden Gloves championships.
The highlight of his amateur career was his Silver Medal victory in the
1984 Olympics.
Virgil's professional record is currently 46-3. He won his first World Title, the WBA Light Heavyweight
title in 1987 against Leslie Stewart and his most recent title, the WBA Cruiserweight title on December
9, 2000 against Fabrice Tiozzo. Virgil is a four (4) time World Champion. He has
the most title defenses of any active champion in the light heavyweight
division, and was named the 1993 WBA fighter of the year. He also
holds the career record for most title defenses of any light heavyweight
champion in history. And most recently, Virgil won WBA Comeback Fighter of the Year for 2000.
Virgil
currently resides in Las Vegas due to the needs of his boxing career, but will always consider North Dakota to be his home.
